Our bodies are made up of many parts. Each part
has it's own magnificent function and role. It amazes me when I
think of how our body works to take care of us. In spite of what we
do to it.
I can't talk about the body without talking about
"body image." The idea of the perfect body has been a pet
peeve of mine because it has caused so much pain and destruction.
Let's begin creating new and wonderful beliefs about our bodies.
Take some time and read about how your body works for
you. You will be amazed also. When you begin to understand
your body, it's functions, it's defenses and how it repairs itself, being
a perfect size 4 will lose it's hold on you. You will begin to
appreciate your body and accept it's "imperfections."
Your Mind
May I make a suggestion? Read about this fantastic
organ. It not only controls the entire body and all of it's
functions, but the mind can create your reality. What you believe,
your mind will find a way to bring into existence. It may take some
time, but the results of your beliefs will come to pass.
Read about successful people. Notice how they talk
about themselves. Pay attention to what they believe they can
achieve and how they look at life in general. Examine people in your
own sphere that you consider to be successful at life. Those are the
people who believe they CAN, and they DO. Those are the people who
are able to bounce back from adversity and meet challenges head on.
You can choose your influences. Choose those which
are positive and uplifting. Follow the paths of the truly successful
and you will be successful also. I've heard insanity described as
"doing the same things over and over again, and expecting different
results." Let's not behave as though we are insane. If
our lives aren't working for us, let's find new ways of thinking and new
ways of doing things.
Dr. Wayne Dyer has a saying that has had a great impact
on me and they way I have come to think, "When you change the way you
look at things, things will change." Give it a try. Won't
you?
Your Health
We all want to be healthy, don't we? If you are
your greatest asset, health must be a priority. I don't believe that
all women who are 5' 4" should necessarily weigh 120 pounds. My
opinion is that the ideal weight is the one that allows you to function at
your full capacity. That the ideal weight is the one at which you
feel your best, your strongest. Begin to develop good eating habits
that will enhance your health.
There are some things that we need to do in order to
achieve good health, such as eat right, get the proper amount of rest,
drink plenty of water and exercise. I am not a physician and I won't
try to "prescribe" a health plan for you. My suggestion is
that you make it a priority to find out what you need to do to get in good
health, and then do it. It would be such a waste if you began to
live your "dream" life only to have it cut short because you
refused to take your health seriously.
